| Guyhirn
has a unique position on this
section of the Nene
Way as a base enabling walkers
to strike off in either direction
or as a stopping off point with
a good public house, an interesting
Church and the Chapel
of Ease which is vested

Conservation Trust. A new tidal
mooring (see below) enables easy access
to river visitors. |

There have been several
requests for information about access to the Guyhirn
Tidal Mooring. If you have the appropriate licence
I gather you already have the necessary key. Otherwise
if you are coming from the Peterborough direction contact
Mick Wright on 01733 202219. Mick is the lock keeper at
the Dog In a Doublet (Whittlesey) and has offered his help
to anyone navigating this stretch of the Nene. From the
other direction contact the Yacht Harbourmaster at Wisbech.

The many watercourses across
the Fens provide some excellent coarse fishing and
day permits are generally available.
Fishing in the Fens is noted historically with substantial
numbers of eel rents mentioned in the Doomsday Book.
A guide Angling in the Fens is available from Tourist
Information Centres. |
